Look at those returns—21% in a week is a screaming convexity bet, not a carry trade. That kind of jump in equity-heavy leaderboards usually means a massive, unhedged directional punt, likely on something extremely sensitive to rates. The curve is the truth serum: if the 10-year yield dropped hard last week, maybe it was a duration grab. But if yields rose, then this was a massive credit or equity risk play, completely unhinged from fixed-income discipline. Either way, sized by DV01, that’s a career-making or breaking move in one week. Meanwhile, the double-digit loser? That’s the flip side—likely caught on the wrong side of a violent rate repricing. Bond crises kill more careers than equity crises because the carry works against you. Consistency is shown by Sharpe ratios, and most here are near zero, which tells me these are binary bets, not calibrated exposure. The real winner isn’t the highest return; it’s the one who can explain their DV01 risk and convexity profile. Without that, this is just noise.
